Turning a classic Nora Ephron film into a musical theater production has proven to be a difficult task, but Sleepless in Seattle — The Musical has finally set a date!
After recently acquiring a new composer and lyricist, Sleepless has also found a new director. The Pasadena Playhouse’s Artistic Director Sheldon Epps is replacing previous director Lonny Price. According to a press release, Price had to leave due to other commitments.
“I am pleased that a recent change in my own schedule allows me to take on the joy and excitement of directing this musical and working even more closely with Jeff, Ben and Sam. The writers have done remarkable work, and I know that this will continue. I eagerly anticipate the birth of this show on our stage, and I am confident it will be an exciting finale to our current season,” Epps said in the release.
And now, we have confirmed that the show will have its world premiere at The Pasadena Playhouse in California on May 24. Sleepless will run from May 24 to June 23 with a press opening night on June 2 at 5 p.m. There will also be a developmental workshop held in March.
